Had the misfortune of incurring a loss? Can you remember how quickly your claim was handled? Due to the technology today, insurance companies supply their clients with 800 numbers to report claims. This speeds up the claim process but it will almost certainly keep your agent out of the loop. I always make sure the client understands the correct claim reporting procedure.
When dealing with new clients I stress the importance of following this procedure. I also ask them to give me a call after contacting the company so I'm kept in the loop in case things don't go as they should through normal channels. As their agent I'm the one who knows who to call to "keep things moving".
