About Us

I was born in Pierre in 1964 when my parents were farming on a farm near Highmore. My family moved in 1970 to Pipestone MN, where my parents were both school teachers.

My high school sweetheart, Annette, and I were married in Pipestone in 1986 and resided in Brookings until 1995. She and I both graduated with Bachelor's degrees from SDSU while raising our three small children... Angela, Robert, and Mark. I worked for Spies Super Valu in Brookings from 1982 to 1992.

I joined the QBE Farmers Union Insurance family in 1998 and relocated to Pierre. I obtained my Certified Insurance Counselor designation in 2001, and through annual re-certification maintain this designation today.

My personal interests include hunting, fishing, sports and spending time with family and friends. I have been active within the community as a Cub Scout Leader and Little League baseball coach.

One of the activities I am most proud of is the affiliation QBE Farmers Union Insurance has with South Dakota High School Activities Association. I have presented awards at High School state tournaments for both Golf and Wrestling and look forward to presenting at various events in the future.

Ruth Hiles

Ruth is the mother of two, Brooklyn and Mason. She is licensed in Personal Lines Property & Casualty. Ruth has her Associate of Science Degree in Business Management. She is also a Certified Tax Preparer, A Boy Scout volunteer, and an avid dart thrower.

Shaun Sarvis

Shaun was recently married in November, 2008. He is licensed in Personal Lines Property & Casualty. Shaun has a love for music and is an accomplished guitar and trombone musician. Shaun is our in house Marketing Specialist.
