About Us

The Hofer Insurance Agency is proud to be a Third Generation Insurance Agency with over 45 years of experience.  The Hofer Insurance Agency was founded in September of 1963 by Alvin J. Hofer. His son, Richard A. Hofer, joined the agency in September of 1970. Richard's son, Nathan J. Hofer, became an agent in September of 2007.

When Al retired, after successfully managing the agency for 24 years, Richard took over the agency. Nathan began his insurance career in January of 2002 and joined the agency in 2007.

Al always believed that in order to be successful in the insurance business you had to be honest and trustworthy. To this day Rich and Nathan have continued on with that same philosophy.

Having our Insurance Agency in the family since 1963 is an honor. Insurance has always been a part of this family.

Insurance coverage, procedures and technology are always changing and we work hard to keep abreast of those changes.

When we aren't working in the office or out in the country going to see our clients, you can find us spending time with family and friends. Whether it be bowling, golf, hunting, fishing, or attending local sporting events. Here at Hofer Insurance we have been in business for so long that we consider our clients our friends.

Rich and Diane live south of Mitchell on the family farm. The same farm that Al bought when he started the agency. In their free time they enjoy camping, fishing, bowling, watching the Twins and Vikings, and Rich even enjoys playing golf.

Nathan lives in Mitchell.  In is spare time he enjoys bike rides, fishing, and camping.  He enjoys going to High School and College activities as well.  You will also find Nathan bowling in league, golfing, and hunting.  He is a Chamber of Commerce Ambassador, a DWU Teammaker and a volunteer at his local church.

On December 12th, 2011 we welcomed Ashley Klinger to our office.  Ashley is from Pierre, SD.  She has a degree from Mitchell Technical Institute in Business and Accounting.  We believe she will be a great addition to the Agency.

At the Hofer Agency we always do our best to meet the needs of both our old and new clients. If you can't find us in the office, we are on the road meeting with other clients. But we are easily accessible!
