Joel is one of the founding members of the Colorado Business Leads Group in Loveland. They are a networking group that assists other members of the community in finding customers, and also assists customers in finding the services they need. They match up potential customers with local business members. Joel has been an active volunteer at Saint Luke's Episcopal Church in Ft. Collins for the last 14 years serving as an Acolite, Sub Deacon, Chalice Bearer and Lector.

When Joelle is not busy chasing her two boys, she runs a non-profit puppy rescue! Poudre Puppy Rescue is a foster home based rescue that finds good homes for puppies in danger of euthanizing. PPR gets the pups the medical attention that they need and then places them into a loving foster home until they find a permanent home! Joelle is also very active at her boys' schools, coaching Odyssey of the Mind and Lego Robotics at Erwin Middle School. Her oldest son, Zak, is on both teams. Both activities are designed for solving long term problems at the middle school level. There are competitions on the local, state and world level. Our team did not make it to state in Robotics, but we have a high degree of hope to make it very far with the Odyssey of the Mind Team! Spending time with the kids is very rewarding!
