About Us
Marlin Jenner was born and raised on a livestock and grain farm at Scotland, South Dakota. He earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Agricultural Education from South Dakota State University. He also taught Vocational Agriculture at Garretson, SD and Sisseton, SD. Marlin worked on the family farm for three years, after which he was a loan officer for the Farm Credit Services in the office at Sisseton, SD. His career with Farmers Union Insurance began in May of 1993, serving the Sisseton area. He and his wife, Cheryl, have one daughter and one son.
Marlin spends his personal time enjoying time with family and friends, hunting, fishing and gardening. He is an avid sports fan, supporting local high school activities, as well as SDSU basketball and Minnesota Twins baseball. He also supports the arts with an occasional dinner theater in the Minneapolis, MN area.
Marlin Jenner began his career with Farmers Union Insurance in May of 1993. Prior to that he worked selling Farm Crop Insurance. There was an opening at Farmers Union Insurance and the transition was a perfect fit for him. He enjoys working in the insurance industry because it gives him a lot of freedom and he can use his expertise in the farm industry to help his clients.
He also appreciates the opportunity be able to help people in his community. He loves being involved in the community in any way that he can. Insurance actually helps people, it protects them, and he’s honored to be in a position to be able to help protect his community.
Marlin says, "It has always been my mission and goal to provide the best service possible with competitive products as a Farmers Union Agent."
This agency is different from others in town for a variety of reasons. One of the most important is the availability we provide to our clients. We are open 5 days a week at 8am, and we close at 4:30pm.
We stay around longer for appointments if you need to come in later than that. We also take appointments on the weekends. We’re also available at home anytime.
Marlin has even come down on Christmas day to write an auto policy for one of his clients!
Other agencies in the town open later and this in not very accommodating to the farmers in the area. This is a main focus of our business, so we like to do what is most convenient for our clients.
Our office is located at 418 2nd Ave. E in Sisseton across from the county court house and the agency is made up of Marlin and:
Norma Palmer - Norma is married and has three adult daughters with numerous grand and great-grand children. Norma has been with the agency since 1997, she works part time at 24 hours/week. Her husband is a retired soil conservationist. Norma is active in her church and with 4H when she can help with projects.
LaVonne Johnson - LaVonne is married to a local farmer/rancher, sharing the farming responsibilities with their son. LaVonne has several grandchildren. LaVonne has been with the agency since 2000, she works part time at 24 hours/week. LaVonne is active in her church as well as with the local roping club.
The Jenner Agency's presence is visible within the community. We are always available to share our knowledge of all our products. When the unexpected occurs, being able to contact your agent rather than a getting a recording speaks for itself.
