Information We Collect
In order to provide insurance products and services to you, we collect non-public personal information about you from the following sources:
- Applications and other forms you submit to us through our agents
- Transactions you have had with us, or, if you live in Montana or North Dakota, our affiliate, Farmers Union Mutual companies, or other companies
- Organizations that collect and provide personal data used solely for underwriting and rating insurance products
- Medical providers, if needed, to assist us in underwriting a policy or administering a claim
- Consumer reporting agencies
- Vendors of prospect lists
Information We May Disclose
Subject to your right to "opt out" as described below, we may disclose to the National and state Farmers Union organizations (in most cases for membership solicitation) and/or to the Travelers Motor Club (for roadside service benefits solicitation), and as permitted by law, the following kinds of non-public personal information about you:
- Information we receive from you on applications or other forms, such as your name, address and telephone number
- Information about your transactions with us, such as your policy dates, coverage, premiums, and payment and claims history
- Name and address information we receive from you on applications or other forms or from vendors of prospect lists, which we may then provide to bulk mailing vendors to assist us in mailing solicitations or other information
Your Right to "Opt Out"
If you prefer that we not disclose non-public personal information about you to the National and state Farmers Union organizations or to the Travelers Motor Club, you may "opt out" (i.e. direct us not to make those disclosures). Fair Credit Reporting Act Disclosures
If we order a consumer report about you from a consumer reporting agency, we will, upon your request, tell you how to get a copy of that report. If coverage is declined or policy premium increased because of information contained in a consumer report, we will inform you as required by law.
Insurance Information and Privacy Protection Act Disclosures
If you live in a state which has passed this Act or a similar statute, you will receive a Notice of Information Practices form when you apply for insurance, which advises you of your rights concerning our underwriting investigation practices.
Confidentiality and Security
We restrict access to non-public personal information about you to those agents and employees who need to know that information to provide products or services to you and as otherwise noted above. We maintain physical, electronic and procedural safeguards that comply with federal standards to guard your non-public personal information.

Server Logs
Our Web servers log your IP address in standard server logs. We use your IP address to help diagnose problems with our servers, determine general site usage and improve our Web site. Your IP address contains no personal information about you.

Farmers Union Insurance does not knowingly collect the personal information of persons under age 18. If we learn of any personal information we collect of persons under age 18, it will immediately be deleted.
Security
We take precautions to protect your information. When you submit sensitive information via our Web site, your information is protected both online and off. If you choose to transmit, and we collect, sensitive information such as credit card data, that information is encrypted and transmitted to us in a secure way. You can verify this by looking for a closed lock icon at the bottom of your Web browser, or looking for 'https' at the beginning of the address of the Web page. While we use encryption to protect sensitive information transmitted online, we also protect your information offline. Only employees and/or agents who need the information to perform a specific job (for example, billing or customer service) are granted access to personally identifiable information. The computers and servers in which we store personally identifiable information are kept in a secure environment.
Public Forums
This site may make chat rooms, forums, message boards, and/or news groups available to its visitors.
