Insurance Quotes & Products

The Tom Farber Agency is here to help our clients with a wide variety of insurance needs.  Some of these include:

  • Auto Insurance – Why is auto insurance necessary?  Auto insurance isn't just about paying for damages to your own car, it can also cover damages to another person's vehicle involved in an accident.  Here is what you need to know:

Collision coverage is available to pay for damages to your own car caused by a Collison with another vehicle, object or person.

Comprehensive coverage is available to pay for damages to your own vehicle NOT caused by a collision.  Covered losses would include vandalism, weather damage, theft, glass breakage, fire, falling objects, etc.

Liability coverage will pay for damages to another person's property, if you are responsible for an accident. If you're ever in this position, liability coverage can save you thousands of dollars and helps you pay the costs of related lawsuits.

Although many auto insurance coverages are optional, in South Dakota liability coverage is MANDATORY. South Dakota requires a minimum level of coverage, but you may want to consider buying higher levels, which will afford you greater protection.

  • Homeowners Insurance – Homeowners insurance provides financial protection against disasters.
    • A standard policy insures the home itself and the items in it.

    • Homeowners insurance is a package policy. This means that it covers both damage to your property and your liability or legal responsibility for any injuries and property damage you or members of your family cause to other people. This includes damage caused by household pets.

    • Damage caused by most disasters is covered, but there are exceptions. Some exceptions are damage caused by floods, earthquakes and poor maintenance.

    • You have to purchase separate policies to cover flood and earthquakes, while maintenance-related problems are the homeowners responsibility.

  • Renters Insurance - How does renters insurance benefit you?

    • Burglary
      • Your apartment just got ripped off. Can you afford to replace your plasma TV, laptop, & other valuables?  Depending upon the plan you purchase, renter's insurace may be able to cover these losses.

      • Your car window has been smashed. Your cell phone, CD collection and sports equipment are gone. Who's going to pay for it?

    • Damage
      • Lightning strikes your apartment and damages your microwave, TV and/or computer. After your deductible is subtracted and with replacement cost coverage, renters insurance will replace it.

      • Your coffeemaker catches fire & smokes up your place. Renters insurance pays for the clean up.
    • Liability
      • Your friend slips and falls in your apartment and breaks her leg. Don't worry, you're covered.
      • Your mailman comes in for some tea and cuts his lip on the broken cup. Don't worry, you're covered.

  • Commercial InsuranceCommercial insurance is insurance for your business. It is one of the most important investments a business owner can make. Commercial insurance can be instrumental in protecting a business from potential loss caused by unforeseen and unfortunate circumstances.
Commercial insurance can provide valuable protection for theft, property damage, and l liability. It can also provide coverage for business interruption and employee injuries. A business owner who chooses to operate a business without insurance puts his enterprise at risk of losing money and property in the wake of an unfortunate event. In some situations, a business owner may even place personal money and property at risk by failing to secure adequate commercial insurance. Finding commercial insurance can be as simple as locating a reliable agent who offers this type of insurance.
  • Farm Insurance – Your farm and ranch operations face a variety of property, casualty and automobile risks. These exposures may include fire, weather, theft, injury to guests, livestock on roadways and vehicle accidents. A comprehensive package policy for farmowners and ranch owners offers a wide range of coverage options. Your agent can customize coverage to fit your specific needs.

  • Life Insurance – It's never too late or too early to think about protecting your family's financial future. Life insurance is protection against financial loss resulting from death. It is an insurance company's promise to pay your beneficiary a specific amount of money when you die in exchange for timely payment of premiums.

Although you may not think about it, your ability to earn income is a significant asset and life insurance helps replace lost income in the event of your premature death. Here are some reasons people buy life insurance.

The death benefit may be used:

    • To replace income the family would need to maintain their standard of living after the death of a wage earner.
    • To pay off a mortgage loan and other personal and business debts.
    • To create a fund for children's education.
    • To pay final expenses, such as funeral costs and taxes.
    • To create a family emergency fund or a fund for a family member with special needs.

  • Health InsuranceWhen shopping for health insurance price is the most confusing aspect of the health insurance market. For instance, the premiums for similar products from different insurers can vary by as much as 50 percent. In addition, the rules and regulations about individual health insurance vary from state to state, making comparison-shopping a challenge for the consumer. Choosing a health insurance plan is going to be a balancing act between cost and coverage, as well as your philosophy of care. Finding the right balance of coverage and cost can be tough, but it's a necessity. So take your search one step at a time. The first step is to evaluate your needs and understand your health-insurance options.
