About Us
Insurance in Colorado
We specialize in Farm/Ranch coverage. We also work with Home, Commercial, Auto, Workers Comp, and Life insurance. We are one of the best agencies in the Arkansas Valley for insuring just about anything you can think of. This year we insured a contractor that constructs anemometer towers for wind testing, which determines whether or not to construct the many huge wind turbines that are being installed in the area. He had inquired with several of my competitors who couldn't help him. QBE Farmers Union was not only able to place the coverage, but at what we consider to be a very good price!
I have been an insurance agent since 1998.
I am available on my cell phone anytime at 719-469-8027.
My former mother in law, introduced me to QBE Farmers Union Service Association and that is where my insurance career began.
Our office staff:
Lisa Reynolds – licensed CSR
She has been with me at this agency for over 10 years. She is very efficient and loves our customers. We work very well together and together we can handle all of your Colorado insurance needs!
Our office location:
15 E 3rd
La Junta, CO 81050
Our office is located next door to the Fox Theatre on East 3rd Street across from Colorado Bank and Trust.
Our History
Although my parents both grew up in the tiny San Luis Valley town of Capulin, Colorado, myself and three of my six siblings were born in the San Francisco Bay city of Hayward, California. My father was an educator and we moved several times along the California coastline. In 1963 they'd had enough of California and we moved back to the San Luis Valley town of La Jara where my father continued teaching and eventually retired. All seven of us kids graduated from Centauri High School, a rural consolidated school south of La Jara.
I learned good work ethic early on. I spent most of my young life working on various farms as it was about the only way to make a little spending money. I feel like I've done just about everything from picking potatoes by hand in the 60's, bucking hay during my teen years in the 70's, and branding many a spring for John Shawcroft of Alamosa (and anyone who knows him, knows that is a LOT of branding!).
In the early 70's, my father was a member of a co-op that created a large-scale hog farm in Capulin. I spent many summers working there (voluntary, with no pay), as each family had to put in a certain amount of hours. I quickly decided at the tender age of twelve, that this would be the last time I ever worked with hogs! Ironically, today my two sons raise 4-H hogs, and show them every year at the Bent County Fair (so much for avoiding hogs).

Today, when out of the office, I spend most of my time following my sons sporting events. My hobbies include guitar playing, shooting hoops with my son (who always wins), long walks, snow skiing, fishing and camping. Oh, and I am told I'm addicted to building spreadsheets.
I have four children. Stephanie, Brandi,TJ, and Jake. I have two granddaughters by Stephanie and her husband, Matt: Samantha, and Sydney.
My former wife and I were living in Missoula, Montana where I worked as the operations manager for a state wide chain of retail stores. I got into the insurance business in 1998. I had worked in the retail industry for sixteen years, and was looking for a change. My wife was from the southeastern Colorado town of McClave. Her mother was a long time agent for QBE Farmers Union Insurance and suggested we move back to Colorado and get into the business. I set up my agency in La Junta, CO, and she went to work at her mother's agency in Lamar, CO where she is now a QBE Farmers Union Agent. It's hard to believe we've past the ten year mark and are still growing!
Our agency team is made up of myself and my CSR, Lisa Reynolds. Lisa is a life long resident of the Arkansas Valley and grew up in Las Animas, CO where her grandparents’ farmed watermelons and many other row crops. She is a licensed agent and has been with me since 2000, when she was a 19 yr old college student. I would be lost without her, and my customers love her.
